Check Engine Light
No one likes to see their car's "Check Engine" light come on. The light could mean a costly problem, like a bad catalytic converter, or it could be something minor, like a loose gas cap. At Alpha & Omega Automotive, we can pull the code and diagnose the problem for you. Give us a call or stop by one of our locations in Marietta for our expert assistance.
Computer
Today, car manufacturers include at least one computer in motor vehicles. This computer's main function is to monitor and adjust engine and transmission operations. The computer receives input information from different sensors. The computer controls spark plugs, idle speed, and fuel injectors so as to get you the best possible car performance. Failure of the car computer will greatly affect the things it controls. To get the most out of your car's computer, have it evaluated regularly for updates and proper operation. If it is already failing, have it repaired or replaced. To have your car's computer handled by experts, visit Alpha & Omega Automotive in Marietta today.
Computer Reflashing
Alpha & Omega Automotive has state-of-the-art equipment to provide computer reflashing to our customers in the Marietta area. The primary reason to reflash a computer (which basically means updating or reinstalling its software) is that an update has been issued by the manufacturer. It's a very simple procedure, and there may be minor updates that the car hasn't had. The manufacturer may have tweaked the transmission-shifting algorithm or some other parameters that are not crucial but may bring slight improvements to drivability, mileage or emissions. Since auto manufacturers are coming out with automobile updates every day, there may be a reprogram available for your vehicle. Stop by one of our locations or call us to schedule an appointment!

Electronc/Diagnostic FAQs
Learn about some of the common questions you may have:
What does it mean when the check engine light comes on? Can I drive with my check engine light on? How much does a diagnostic test cost?
Diagnostic testing is like the Doctor!
Why do we charge for diagnostic testing?
- We want to fix the vehicle correctly.
We have personally experienced customers coming in with their vehicle and telling us what is wrong with it. They don’t want to pay for us to find the root problem their vehicle is having. They just want us to fix what they say the problem is. If the part they ask us to hang does not fix the problem, then who is responsible? If you were to go to the doctor; explain your symptoms; the doctor was to treat you without checking you out; and you, in turn, were to receive the wrong treatment; that would be cause of concern. The same should apply in this case. There are times when one issue is really caused by another underlying issue and it’s manifesting in other ways. Let’s use the same type of example: If you were to go to the doctor for stomach issues and they were to treat the stomach issues, but not find out that you have a food allergy that is causing the stomach issues, then they didn’t really help you effectively. - There is a cost involved to us.
While we do offer FREE vehicle scans, the professional scanners that we use are not inexpensive like those that can be purchased in a parts store. Our professional grade scanners can cost upwards of $10,000 and they require a monthly fee to keep them updated with the latest technology. Placing a scanner on a vehicle only gets you an idea of where to start. You can liken it to a zip code on an address. More work must be done to find out the root cause or you are just “throwing parts” at a vehicle. Once again, using the doctor example here, you would expect to pay for test using a medical machine.
In addition, we must pay our tech for their time and our bay is tied up while your vehicle is there.
